WOOD VARIATIONS:
Most wood doors are constructed using many pieces of wood and sometimes different cuts of wood (rotary cut veneer, flat
sawn veneer, edge sawn solid, flat sawn solid etc.). All wood parts are hand selected for color consistency and quality. The
different cuts of wood as well as the wood itself, accepts finishes in different ways due to the variations explained above.
Variations are a characteristic of the wood and will not be a reason for a product replacement. It is impossible to obtain a
perfect match of all pieces in a door or in a project and the cost would be prohibitive if possible.
WOOD MELLOWING:
Both soil conditions and climatic conditions affect tree growth rates, grain development and wood coloration. The wood grain
and color are as individual as the conditions under which the tree grew. Wood grains and color also vary between types of
wood cuts (veneers versus solids). Wood will change color as it ages as well, this change is called “mellowing”. The degree
of change is dependent on wood specie, wood cut, light exposure and how opaque the finish is. Mellowing is most significant
on wood with lots of sun exposure on clear or nearly clear finishes (natural). Variations in wood color grain and mellowing are
characteristic of wood and will not be a reason for replacement.
WOOD VENEERS:
North Cabinetry cabinets have finished ends and panels of veneer. In the staining process veneers may take the stain
differently than the solid wood parts. North Cabinetry will select the best color match for these veneers, but exact matching
cannot be guaranteed.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
Doors can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge and a bit of mild household soap and water mix. Wipe well with a dry cloth
after cleaning.
